I’ve paid for an appraisal. Do I still need a home inspection?
It is in your best interest to have a home inspection. A home inspection provides detailed information about the condition of the home and its systems, as well as any defects.
Appraisers are not trained to inspect a home in this way. They will not check the roof for leaks, or the attic for infestations. They won’t access the crawl space to assess the condition of the foundation. And, they won’t be able to provide suggestions about needed repairs. See a home inspection checklist.
